I've always bought packs and blaster boxes and then just put the cards in a box. I recently started using Beckett's Organize to put the cards together. How should it be done? By Set, Team? Player? I am in need of ideas. I was at one time long ago building sets but gave up on that. Does anyone even do that anymore? or is it all player/team driven?
It's all up to you, but I separate mine by what set they belong too. I have some organized by players but those are my PC players. I actually need to go back through mine and delete a lot. I donate and give away just about all my commons but I have them all in my organize.
I have "PC" and "Not PC" organization styles. "PC" is by players, and "Not PC" is by set so I can find cards easily if someone wants them. Do whatever feels comfortable now; you will be doing it differently later, anyway. You mix and match styles until you find what ultimately suits your needs, but it never happens on the first try, as anyone with some time in collecting will confirm.

My example is not football:
I've been collecting Nolan Ryan cards since the Summer of 1990 and I'm still collecting Nolan Ryan cards to this day. He's all I collect.
Like most people here. I have my cards separated the following way
All BGS graded cards in a separate box
My Ndamukong Suh PC is in a separate box. (My BGS Suh's are in the BGS box)
Then I have all base in a 5000ct super box separated by Set and year.
Then I have a separate box that hold all my trade stuff, non pc autos, mem cards etc all toploaded and team bagged.
Then I have a huge Binder that has various Lions base and inserts
I do by teams in binders unless they are a certain BV threshold then I have them graded. Graded cards are either on my display shelf or in a water proof container.
I'm slowly weeding out everything not related to a more centralized theme to my collection. Just hard to let go of some stuff after 26 years of collecting.
