Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forums. I'd like to share with you a couple breaks of 08-09 UD Series 1.
So I used to collect cards when I was younger but stopped around 2002. Recently, after some closet cleaning, I spent the day going through my old stuff and decided to buy a couple new boxes. I decided on 08-09 Series 1 because of the Stamkos rookie. My first box wasn't anything too special. There was a Blake Wheeler YG and a pretty nice Fab Four Fabric mem card /100 with Brodeur/Parise/Elias/Gionta.
I decided to do a couple more boxes. This is what I found:
BOX 1
This first card is the header card for the Hockey Heroes- Sidney Crosby set.
At first I kind of tossed it aside because it's a pretty boring card. It was a while later I decided just to check what the HH complete set value is only to find out this card actually books at $80!
Next were the Young Guns in the box. I pulled Matt D'Agostini and Ilya Zubov and then these four:
which I thought was a decent lot. I like the Schenn because I'm a long-suffering whole life Leafs fan and a couple good Senators (or a now-Senator Turris)
Memorabilia cards I got Gilbert Brule and this guy:
which was pretty exciting to pull. I had only pulled really semi-star jerseys until that.
BOX 2
On to box 2. My first hit was a Josh Harding autograph (unfortunately stickered)
but it was my first and only autograph from the set
I pulled a couple jersey cards. Nothing too special. Ladislav Smid and Michael Ryder.
The big deal in this box was the YGs. I pulled Janne Niskala and Mattias Ritola (meh) then another Pietrangelo and Darren Helm
About halfway through the box I got a pretty sweet YG:
and then what topped it all off. Last but not least, I found him
And, no, I didn't save that to the end to build suspense. It was literally in the last pack I opened in my last box.
In addition to these pulls I was also able to finish two complete sets with the three boxes I bought. (minus YGs obviously)
And now I'm into card collecting again..
