So I was excited to bust these packs given that the only Jordan I have from this set is the base. I could at least pull a no-protector version, maybe a mystery finest or even a refractor, right?

Well, first pack, first card is a checklist...and it pretty much went downhill from there. I managed very good hits given the odds and that there are only 24 packs in the box, but they were just of dreadful, dreadful players. I'm so disappointed I'm not even bothering with scans. All are for trade, though I'm pretty sure they will all just languish in my collection for eternity!

Centurions /500: Bryant Reeves (these are 1:91 packs, Reeves is the least valuable card in the set)

Mystery Finest (1:33): Malone/Kemp

Hardwood Honors (1:33): Steve Smith

No Protector Refractor (1:24): Shawn Bradley

Refractors (1:12): Sherman Douglas and, of course, to bring things full circle, the bleeping checklist.

No Protectors (1:4): Shaq and 5 commons

I knew I should have never bought another box after that triple sign of the times hit. If only I had opened the gold standard box before the SP Authentic instead of after I could've retired on top! No matter, I have a fun old school break coming in early next week. Another shot at redemption!
That is a brutal hit on the inserts Confused...I always hate that when I pull a rare insert and its Tim Thomas Sad

haha for me it is nearly ALWAYS Keith Van Horn. In fact I tried a box of these a few months ago and the mystery finest was a Van Horn. I pulled that out and almost didn't pull the black off for fear it was another one!
Wow that's a real bummer. I remember Reeves was one of the highest picks in the draft, he did do quite well in his first couple of years but... look at him. Let's say he doesn't really add to the appeal of a card
sorry for the bad wax... I was thinking of buying a box of 98-99 or 99-00... Finest were my favorite those two years.. that is when I collected for a short time.. probably little over a year tops. I ended up buying 2 boxes 93-94 series II, a box of skybox 92-93 series I, & box of 93-94 series I. Should be fun breaks... those were my best memories of early collecting... running to the cardshop to spend my lunch money that I saved that day... it was a daily hangout.. all 4 boxes cost less than $10 per box, including shipping. can't beat that!! now, I want old school finest & ultra boxes...
where did you get this box?

The Finest boxes are always at least a little pricy (I think I paid $55 for this break), and the Ultra boxes have gone up, particularly the year with the big $ Jordan scoring kings, 93-94 I think? Those boxes are going for more than I paid for the Finest box!

What were your 93-94 boxes? you just said series one and series two. I'm guessing skybox since that's what the 92-93 box was, just curious!
tim thomas haunts me
Its funny that you guys mentioned Tim Thomas and Keith Van Horn...

I opened 2 packs of 1998-99 Finest Series 2 at the weekend. The only hit was a Mystery Finest. I was really excited when I opened it. Turned out it was Tim Thomas and, yes, Keith Van Horn.

Wow, that's an eerie, twilight-zone type moment isn't it?
