That's one use for it. It's also for bragging rights as to who has the best graded card collection of "X" player or "X" set. When the registry is fully functional you can also be able to add scans of your cards. There's also going to be "top secret" additions that they don't want to tell us until all the kinks are worked out.
So basically just for showing off.
