I noticed it's fairly evident that the market prefers PSA 10s over BGS 9.5 these days. BGS 9.5s tend to sit longer too. Seeing you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than getting a BGS 10 , I'd go with PSA grading from now on. Plus with PSA you don't have to worry about getting bent over on an autograph grade. They will just certify the autograph for you and that's the way it should be done.

I agree, I sell a lot of graded cards...psa 10's sell so much quicker. The 9.5 is just a slap in the face for submitting a flawless card. Don't get me started on auto grading, what a joke.

I'd much rather have a BGS 9.5, at least then I know it's acctually going to be GEM MINT. I've crossed many PSA 10's over to BGS and some of them got GEM MINT and some of them got BGS 9's. A couple of the ones that got 9's just barely got 9's. I even had 4 of them come back as questionable authenticity edges.
Bgs graded my trimmed Griffey rookies as 9's. while psa returned them as trimmed. Every company has their flaws.
Here is a good example. I have no doubt the BGS 9.5 is actually a better condition card than the PSA 10. Not a huge difference in price but still I see this all the time. I am seriously considering drilling out my BGS 9.5s and sending them to PSA.

I had 3 BGS 10s amongst an order of 20 cards. I must have had a lightning rod up my ***** that day.
Yes, I think I saw them in slab of the day thread. I think you had bunch of 9.5's also. Chances of getting a 10 are obviously much better if the card is only a few years old. Still a great accomplishment. Congrats.
PSA 10 = BGS 9.5. No one makes any bones about this issue and it is fully understood in the market.

The two posters criticizing BGS seem to have an agenda and I don't buy it. One stop on feebay and it's plain as day that a BGS 9.5 is much more coveted than a PSA 10. And quite frankly, I'm sick of seeing 80's hockey psa 10's with edges that look like a bandsaw.

You can make the argument that vintage collectors prefer PSA for their history and their reputation with older sportscards. But there is no doubt whatsoever that modern collectors prefer BGS.

I prefer BGS/BVG to PSA; I actually Cross Over PSA 10's to BGS/BVG.
