Where do most on here get their cards before the grading submission even comes into question?

Obviously, I don't see how anyone could send in cards to be graded that have been sitting in shoe boxes for 20 years. I am just wondering where some of these older cards come from?

Do you just take a chance on individual cards at places like Ebay, Amazon, etc..? Older Packs that are just now being opened?

It's a combination. I've purchased cards on Ebay or obtained them in trades and sent them to be graded. I've gotten anything from a BGS 4 to a BGS 9.5 on these. Sometimes they get kicked back as altered or unauthentic. It's a crapshoot.

I've sent in cards opened from packs, new and vintage.

Sometimes I'll find a card buried in the back of a binder that I did not know I have and if it looks good and the player came out of no where (Tom Brady?) I'll send it in.
