Contest closed -- no further entries accepted. I am now busting wax.
Okay, here we go! There were 20 entries. Grandal and Harvey were each picked twice; the others are singles. CMU is starting slow. Good luck to you and to me!
Case #1, Box #1
Notable base refractor: Mike Olt
Draft Blue /399: Michael Brantley
Gold Refractor /50: Steve Tolleson
Auto Exchange: Christian Colon
Grade & Comments: D. Yikes. This was not a good start. Not a lot of cash value in the base cards, so there need to be plenty of hits to make it up. Note that I spent $67.92 delivered per box, so I’m grading against my personal outlay. I’m a little miffed that Topps continues to rely so much on exchange cards. No major complaints about the aesthetics yet, though I did notice some inconsistencies (e.g., Aaron Sanchez doesn’t have a facsimile auto on his card), and I think the photography of the USA Baseball cards is lousy. Duh, let’s have them stand awkwardly in front of a flag!
Case #1, Box #2
Notable base refractor: Albert Almora
Draft Blue /399: Jesse Biddle
Blue Refractor /199: Ivan Nova
Refractor Auto Exchange: Matt Harvey
Grade & Comments: D. Another exchange. I think the auto checklist is nice, but can the other hits possibly get me to the sticker price? BTW, noticed lots of prospects cards without the facsimile signatures.
Case #1, Box #3
Draft Blue /399: Danny Valencia
Blue Refractor /199: Chris Nelson
Auto: Chance Ruffin
Refractor Auto /500: Jake Skole
Grade & Comments: D. Two autos is always nice. Just not nice enough! Joke Skole is the contest winner if there are no more refractor autos in this case (not likely).

Case #1, Box #4
Notable base refractor: Andrelton Simmons
Draft Blue /399: Jake Lemmerman
Blue Refractor Auto /150: Josh Sale
98
Grade & Comments: B+. Boom – solid hit. Nearly made up for the first three boxes. Sale now very likely the lowest numbered prospect auto of the case; tdog4468 has a commanding lead in the contest.
Anybody know how the first three boxes got put together into the same message? Did a mod do that or did I do it without knowing what I did?
Case #1, Box #5
Notable base refractor: Jordan Smith
Draft Blue /399: Tyrell Jenkins, Tyler Colvin
Blue Refractor /199: Peter Bourjos
Refractor Auto /500: Ryan Bolden
Grade & Comments: F. Ouch. The last Bolden refractor auto sold for 99 cents.

will you have any chrome base or chrome prospect cards for trade? I need about 37-38 cards to finish the set

Case #1, Box #6
Draft Blue /399: Danny Worth
Blue Refractor /199: Lucas Harrell
Auto: Ryan Bolden
AFLAC Auto /35: Chevez Clarke
Grade & Comments: A+. Wow. I would be shocked if this was not the best card in the first two cases. Maybe I was wrong about the potential for hits in this set. As a set collector I’m usually not too happy when sets contain very short print cards. But it’s sure nice to hit one.

I'm not much of a trader, sorry.

Case #1, Box #7
Draft Blue /399: Kevin Keyes
Gold Refractor /50: Nelson Rodriguez
Refractor Auto: Mike Foltynewicz
Grade & Comments: D. Feast or famine.
Case #1, Box #8
Draft Blue /399: Wilson Ramos
Blue Refractor /199: Jordan Norberto
Refractor Auto: Deck McGuire
Grade & Comments: F. Ouch.

Case #1, Box #9
Notable base refractor: Hayden Simpson, Dayan Viciedo
Draft Blue /399: Andrelton Simmons
Blue Refractor /199: Matt Suschak
Auto: Taylor Lindsey
Grade & Comments: D-. Sale still looking like the card to beat.
Case #1, Box #10
Draft Blue /399: Josh Bell
Blue Refractor /199: Hisanori Takahashi
Auto Exchange: Drew Pomeranz
Grade & Comments: D. tdog still in the lead.
Case #1, Box #11
Draft Blue /399: Alex Bregman, Stephen Strasburg
USA Auto: Ivan Pelaez
Orange Refractor Auto /25: Kolbrin Vitek
Grade & Comments: A+. Wow. That’s a pretty sweet pull. It makes up for a lot of D and F boxes. It’s also a surprise smackdown to tdog4468 in the contest. Nobody picked Vitek, and assuming there is no orange, red, or super auto in the final box of this case, we swing over to the tiebreak. Buffalo rolled easily, 64-50. Our closest prediction was by motu79, who predicted a Buffalo win of 70-51. Not bad! So it looks like motu’s to lose here with the last box coming right up.
Case #1, Box #12
Draft Blue /399: Deck McGuire
Blue Refractor /199: Carson Kelly
Refractor Auto /500: Michael Choice
Grade & Comments: C-. Really great auto; really mediocre everything else. Still, this box was closest to expected value that I had in the entire case. And we have a winner! Nobody guessed that the Bosox #1 pick would be my lowest numbered parallel auto, but motu79 had a great prediction of the CMU-Buffalo game, earning him 5 autos from this break. Motu79, please be patient as I continue to bust. I will contact you after the break is done and give you a list of autos from which to choose. Well done, everyone! After I get a little more busting under my belt I’ll figure out the next contest.
Case #1 Grade: C
Comments: Most of my grades were Ds and Fs (5 and 2, respectively), but a ton of value came in three cards – an orange refractor auto, a blue refractor auto, and an SP AFLAC card. All together I think I got squarely average value for my $815 outlay. I also think it’s safe to predict that getting average value going forward is going to rely on hitting low numbered parallel autos and good AFLAC cards. (I’d like to pull a Harper rather than buy one.) I’ll bust case #2 tomorrow.

Nice break so far (better than both of my 2 draft cases).
To answer your question, I think if nobody comments between yours, it just adds it to your previous post. i noticed this last nite in my break.
