This 168-piece set was issued by Cincinnati-based Kenner Toy Company. The statues feature top Major League Baseball stars in action poses and are accompanied by a standard-size card of each player. The front of each card has either a posed or action color shot. The back has biographical and statistical information and a facsimile signature. At 168 pieces, this is the largest set issued under the Starting Lineup brand. The three modes of distribution for these figures were regionally issued team cases (24 pieces), nationally distributed All-Star cases (24 pieces) and a 1-800 number. The 1-800 number was through a fulfillment house in conjunction with Kenner and offered team sets and complete sets. The regionally issued team cases were 24 count but each player in the team case was not equally distributed. This caused some figures to be shorter than others. The 24 count All-Star cases were divided into American League and National League. The 14 American League players in the 24-piece AL cases were George Bell, Wade Boggs, Jose Canseco, Roger Clemens, Mike Greenwell, Rickey Henderson, Wally Joyner, Don Mattingly, Mark McGwire, Paul Molitor, Kirby Puckett, Alan Trammell, Frank Viola and Dave Winfield. The 13 National League players that were featured in the 24-piece NL cases were Bobby Bonilla, Will Clark, Vince Coleman, Eric Davis, Andre Dawson, Kirk Gibson, Dwight Gooden, Dale Murphy, Tim Raines, Ryne Sandberg, Mike Scott, Ozzie Smith and Darryl Strawberry. The key first appearances include Roberto Alomar, Ron Gant, and Greg Maddux. The figures of the California Angels team, except for Wally Joyner, are the toughest pieces to find. The values listed below refer to unopened packages. The figures are unnumbered and checklisted below in alphabetical order. [Collapse]
