Vick Cards Find Dog Bowl at Pack Ripping Event
Aug 28 2007 11:19AM
If you've ever purchased sports cards and collectibles from the Beckett Marketplace -- and thousands and thousands of people have since 1999 -- you might wonder: Who are these guys, anyway?
Real people. Good people, in fact. Which is a big reason buying on Beckett.com is a safe haven on the Internet.
Yesteday and today, about 25 of the top Beckett Marketplace dealers visted Beckett HQ in Dallas for what has become an annual meeting focused on how to better serve Beckett.com customers.
But forget about the seminars, presentations and meetings. Let's talk about the outrageous pack ripping session where Donruss, Upper Deck and Topps products were opened. All Michael Vick cards from the Donruss football product ended up in a dog bowl, even his jersey card (right).
Bill Henderson of Bill Henderson's Cards in Janesville, Wis., went old school on us and used his teeth to rip the Mylar. And Dave Pfaff of SportsCards Etc. in Pittsburgh was giddy upon pulling a Mario Andretti autographed Allen & Ginter card.
There were more shennanigans than you can imagine at this pack ripping frenzy, and you'll see them soon online in a new Video Box Break. Until then, today was a reminder that the Beckett Marketplace sellers are real people who love to open product as much as the customers they serve.
