Inside Look: 2006 Exquisite Collection Football Pack-Out

Last Saturday, all hands (hopefully thoroughly washed) were on deck at Upper Deck for the 2006 Exquisite Collection Football pack-out. At more than $500 per, each six-card wooden pack is hand-seeded to balance out the value. Upper Deck offered us an inside look at the pack-out, which took more than 18 hours to complete.

"We were all excited to get this set out to the football card collectors, as this rookie class has continued to thrill and amaze," says Upper Deck public relations manager Don Williams. "Upper Deck Exquisite Football contains the most compelling rookie and veteran memorabilia and autographed cards in the marketplace."

Those "most compelling" cards were handled with extreme care. Each insert set and card type were kept together to help with the coordination of the pack-out. Cards were then divided up and placed inside the silver box, which is then placed inside the wooden pack.

Special Gold packs were created that include all 1-of-1 cards. The six cards in these packs include the following: 1/1 regular card, 1/1 quad jersey, 1/1 rookie auto patch, 1/1 additional signature (veteran or rookie), 1/1 Exquisite Patch and the sixth card in the pack will come from various sources, such as rare Material Patches, dual signatures, etc. You will not know if you have a Gold pack until you open the wooden pack.
