SAGE Extends Design a Card Contest

Nov 28 2006 10:58AM

On the heels of last year's wildly successful Design-A-Card contest, hobby partners SAGE Collectibles, Inc. and Trader Retreat have teamed up again to give collectors the chance to show off their creative talents by creating a card design to be used as an insert set in SAGE's HIT 2007 Football product, releasing in April.

Collectors of all ages are welcome to join in the challenge of seeing their work immortalized on the front of an insert set, with their name being credited on the back of the cards. All that is required for entry is a free membership to Trader Retreat ( www.traderretreat.com) and some creativity. The contest is already underway and has been extended at least through Dec. 15.

"I never could have imagined the buzz generated by this unique opportunity," proclaimed Frank McDonald, owner of Trader Retreat. "But after hearing the positive feedback and witnessing the excitement of becoming a part of hobby history, we just knew this was something we would like to bring back to our members once again."

The team at SAGE Collectibles could not agree more, and the chance to once again grant their customers this rare prize was something they felt strongly about. According to Tom Geideman, President of SAGE Collectibles, "This contest represents a strong desire on the part of SAGE to show our great customers that we appreciate their support, and the ability to make them a part of the design process is a spectacular way to reward the people who make this hobby possible."

Last year's winner of the inaugural event, Adam Popovich, saw his winning design become the basis for the Design for Success set, which also had an autograph parallel. Adam's terrific entry was chosen as the cream of a very talented crop, with many of the finalist entries being of equally high-caliber.

All entries must be made through the Trader Retreat website, where there is a forum thread listing the rules and regulations. Photos of Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart are provided on the website for use in the designs.
