"I was sorting through my boxes of 2006-07 Upper Deck Series 1 and noticed a little box on the back of each card with a four-digit letter/number combo. It’s on every card, and there’s a different combo on each. What is this about? Does it refer to the printing sheet each card was cut from?"
— John Pease, Euless, Tex.
Nope, not the printing sheets, John. Those alphanumeric combos actually are codes for Upper Deck’s kid-oriented redemption program. (We've highlighted the code in yellow on our example here.) Wanna check it out? Grab your cards and head to www.upperdeckkids.com. Create an account (it’s painless, trust me), and enter your codes. You can redeem them for prizes big and small, and you might be surprised by how quickly the points add up. For example, my son entered the codes from two packs of UD1 and earned an iTunes download. Maybe not a huge thing, but a very nice bonus on top of pulling a Patrice Bergeron jersey card from one of the packs.
