Your and your child's privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. In compliance with our registration policy and the guidelines set forth by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, ("COPPA"), beckett.com is committed to protecting the privacy of each visitor who registers with us. Here is an explanation of our data collection process.

Obtaining Parental Consent:

Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which went into effect on April 21, 2000, beckett.com will require parental consent in order to keep in our records any registered user information from a child under 13 years of age. A COPPA registration form must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian of every child who has indicated at signup that he or she is twelve or under. The form must be faxed or mailed back to beckett.com within 14 days of the child's attempt to register. If we do not hear back within 14 days, that child's pre-registration information (including screen name) will be deleted from our system. When we receive parental consent within the 14 day time period we will follow-up with an e-mail notification granting the child full access to our site.

Information We Collect Via Registration

Beckett.com respects the privacy of its on-line visitors. All registration information is collected directly on a voluntary basis and also passively, through Cookies (see below). We ask registered users for their name, address, date of birth, e-mail address and offer an opt-out subscription to our weekly email newsletter. Beckett.com does not collect, and is prohibited from collecting, more information from your child than is reasonably necessary to participate in the features available to our registered users.

How We Use the Registration Information

Beckett.com uses information from registered users to notify contest winners and to post screen names next to game high scores, auction postings and message board postings. We also use registered user information to obtain a better understanding of our users' profiles and thus tailor our site to meet the demographic make-up of those members. This information also helps us study user patterns across the country. From time-to-time we make this aggregate information available to our retail partners and dealers.

Other Information We Collect

Third Parties

Beckett.com shares pertinent registration information with third party partners. These partners include dealers in the beckett.com marketplace and other vendors of sports collectible products and services. The information is shared only when users initiate certain activities with our partners, such as, purchasing products and services and/or requesting information about said products and services. A dealer or retail partner may NOT "collect" a child's personal information even in connection with a purchase. The information required by our dealers and vendors to complete a purchase is: email address, name, mailing address, and phone number. If you do not want your child's personal information released to third parties as just described, you may make that preference known as you give us your consent to register your child's personal information. Please note, however, that your child will not then be able to make any purchases from our dealers.

Some partners may require registration on their sites to participate in activities publicized on beckett.com. Parents are advised to carefully read those sites' COPPA and privacy policies before registering their children with any partners, as beckett.com has no control over the information gathered at those sites once a child has registered with them.

Privacy

Beckett.com user information is not "sold" to outside parties. Users are permitted to share information with each other in our "buy-sell-trade" area, "collector to collector" area and through personal web pages created on our site, but sharing of that information is voluntary. Beckett.com does not itself provide information about its registered users to third parties in these areas or on the personal web pages. Information that is shared in those areas includes the following:

Buy/Sell/Trade - Name, Screen Name, email address, City, State, Zip, country
Collector To Collector - Screen Name, City, State, Zip
Personal Web Pages - Any personal information a person chooses to include.

Please advise your child not to reveal personal information via message boards, web pages, or email. Beckett.com staff will never solicit personal information from a user in those areas.

Changing Registration Information

Parents may refuse to permit further collection of their child's personal information at any time. All they have to do is log on as the child and access the users' administration page located here. Clicking the COPPA button on that page will submit a request to remove the child's information. Please note: removal of a child's information will restrict the child from many of the beckett.com features and pages.

Using "Cookie" Technology

We use a software technology called "cookies" to collect non-personal information about our visitors. Such information includes: type of browser software a visitor uses to access the Internet (i.e. Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 3.0, etc.); type of operating system (i.e. Windows 95, Macintosh, etc.); or the domain name of the visitor's Internet service provider. We also count the number of visitors who come to our site each day in an aggregate form. Such information allows us to better assess which site areas are meeting our users' needs. This information is also utilized in providing advertisers site traffic information. We also use "cookie" technology to track and provide visitor scores on designated contests and multi-player games. Finally, cookie technology frees visitors to enter beckett.com without having to remember and enter any special passwords. In all of the above practices, it is the intention of beckett.com to operate in full compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Why Register?

Visitors who register with beckett.com can use certain special technology features, such as saving personal scores and rank in multi-player games, viewing purchase history, accessing online resources such as our price guides, and other features. Registered users will also, upon occasion, receive e-mail updates about special activities and services. (Users may easily unsubscribe to those updates by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.) Registered users of beckett.com are also able to participate in ongoing contests on the website.

Newsletters

Registered users of beckett.com may elect to receive our weekly "Beckett Hobby News" Newsletter. Recipients may unsubscribe to this newsletter at any time. Only registered users can receive newsletters from the site.
