In conjunction with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Action Packed issued this 84-card standard-size set to honor the greatest basketball players and coaches of all time. The set was released in two separate series of 42 cards each. The first series contains 37 current Hall of Famers and a five-card subset devoted to Larry Bird, a Hall of Famer in waiting. The Julius Erving (72G) autographed card was numbered "x of 2500" on the card and was originally only available as a chiptopper in the second series hobby boxes, approximately found one per 20 boxes. The fronts display color photos featuring embossed, sculptured images of the player. The player's name and position are gold-foil stamped across the bottom. A Basketball Hall of Fame 25th anniversary logo in gold foil runs down the right edge. The backs display career highlights overlaid on a parquet basketball court design. Topical subsets featured are One On One (1-10), Coaches (11-16), and Larry Bird (17-21). The cards are numbered on the back. Card 24A is actually a preview card which was delivered to the hobby during January and February via Chiptoppers packed in every box of All-Madden football cards and Action Packed All-Star Gallery Series II baseball cards; it is distinguished from the regular cards by the fact that it has only black and gold print on the back and is not considered part of the complete set. The second series is subdivided into Hall of Fame players (43-51), Hall of Fame coaches (52-59), Class of 1993 (60-67), Dr.J. (68-72), College Days (74-78), and Players Who Coached (79-84).
