Each card is printed on thin stock and features a player action photo set against a royal blue background. The cards were intended as exchange items for a home run game (based upon the NL and AL home run leaders in 1998). Pinnacle's bankruptcy in the Fall of 1998, however, wiped away the Upgrade redemption program. In addition, a scarce exchange card - originally intended as a redemption for a baseball signed by Juan Gonzalez - was randomly seeded into packs.
