The cards in this 144-card set measure approximately 2 1/4" by 3". This "Series of colored pictures of Famous Ball Players and Managers" was issued in packages of Cracker Jack in 1914. The cards have tinted photos set against red backgrounds and many are commonly found with caramel stains. The set contains American, National, and Federal League players. The company claims to have printed 15 million cards as noted on the backs. Most of the cards were issued in both 1914 and 1915, but each year can easily be distinguished from the other by the notation of the number of cards in the series as printed on the back (144 for 1914 and 176 for 1915) and by the orientation of the text on the back of the cards. For 1914, the cardback text is right side up when the card is turned over but will be upside down for the 1915 release. Team names are included below for some players to show more specific differences between the 1914 and 1915 issues on those cards. [Collapse]
